Youth Recreation Program Facilitator                                                       

DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation

STATUS: Intermittent employee; not eligible for benefits

HOURLY RATE: $10.67/hr—$13.01/hr

Dependent on the availability of Parks and Recreation program needs, the Program Manager will determine staff hiring based on minimum qualification requirements. This position will provide you the opportunity to gain valuable work experience while working in a fun, fast-paced environment!

General Statement

The Youth Recreation Program Facilitator works as part of a dynamic team to facilitate comprehensive recreational programs for the greater community. Positions include site facilitation, coaching, youth programs, seasonal programs, and adult programs

Youth Recreation Program Facilitator

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acts as a positive role model in all interactions with program participants
  • Responsible for the facilitation and supervision of up to 10--25 children daily
  • Supervise Recreational Programing during regular out of school time
  • Responsible for the overall safety of the youth in the parks and sponsored field trips
  • Perform other related duties to ensuring effective and efficient functioning of the Recreation Program

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of the recreation field
  • Ability to work on a team and maintain a positive attitude while working with children
  • Knowledge of first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Ability to foster relationships with administrators and teaching staff
  • Ability to practice safe work habits while in the operation of City of Missoula vehicle(s)
  • Ability to maintain a high level of maturity and flexibility to create a positive learning experience

Required Qualifications

  • Valid CPR certificate
  • Verified acceptable driving record

Special Condition

Can choose as few or as many days per week to work, Monday—Friday 1—6 p.m. MST

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Must possess or be able to obtain within 30 calendar days of employment a Montana Driver License
  • Must have or obtain certification from American Red Cross (ARC), or equivalent, training in First Aid within 90 calendar days of employment
